Seville is the protagonist, location or inspiration for a large number of artistic projects and is now an inseparable destination for major national and international events. Thus, she is part of the cast of series films or some of the most popular operas. In relation to the latter genre, the city welcomes in the face of the Primavera Season / summer this ambitious musical cycle: sevilla Opera Nights’.
The Association of Palace Houses of Seville has launched this Program in collaboration with Engranajes Culturales and Classical Passion & More. In any case, it is a cycle of performances to highlight the link between opera and such emblematic places of the city as those in charge of hosting these concerts.
Opera classics in the palaces of Seville
‘Sevilla Opera Nights’ will take place in three dream locations: the Palace of Las Dueñas, The Casa de Salinas and the Charity Hospital.
All of them will respectively represent three of the great opera librettos taking place in the city. Works that have the city of Seville as their main source of inspiration, opera being an art form that combines music, narrative and theater in a unique emotional experience.
- The Hospital de la Caridad will host the performance of the grand opera buffa The Barber of Seville on Friday, June 21. A cast of four voices – Bruna de Castro (Rosina), Vicente Salvador Montañana (Figaro); Carlos Vinsac (Bartolo); and Arturo Garralón (Count Alma viva) – will give life to the main characters. Diana Rodríguez Adán will accompany them on the grand piano and Carlos Ruiz Cadierno as master of ceremonies.
- The cycle includes the performance of Don Giovanni in the Renaissance courtyard of the Casa de Salinas. This iconic historic building will be the setting for an unforgettable operatic experience on 28th of june. Performers of this dramma giocoso include Bruna de Castro (Zerlina), Vicente Salvador Montañana (Don Giovanni, Leporello); Pedro Gómez (Don Ottavio); Eva Tenorio (Doña Ana) and Javier Prados (Master of Ceremonies).
Each of the above-mentioned days will have a performance at 10:00 pm. A selection of the main arias, duets and recitatives of the work will be performed at both events.
