Literature is full of bars as central characters and it is in bars where people write or at least where they narrate from memory (in the purest Homeric style) the issues, inquiries and labyrinths of literature. Far from fiction, in its bars, terraces and barrels the issues that really matter are solved, analyzed or mourned between drinks and food. And in Seville, needless to say, they know a lot about bars and about the noble art of frequenting them, too.
They summon a large number of customers and tourists, offer tapas, snacks and other appetizers and you could stay there to live. So, without anesthesia, and in our opinion: the best bars in Seville.
1. El Rinconcillo
Experience is a degree and El Rinconcillo already treasures 300 years of history between its walls and tiles. The service is marked by tradition: orders written down in chalk, typical dishes of Sevillian gastronomy and a wide range of wines and beers to harmonize the day.
The menu is a tribute to Seville: its croquettes, scrambled eggs and codfish pavias are testimony to the tradition and flavor that have endured over the years. One of the oldest bars in Seville and also one of the most one of the most legendary in the world according to the Taste Atlas guide.

2. Álvaro Peregil
Álvaro Peregil’s reputation transcends generations. In the heart of Mateos Gago street, in front of an imposing Giralda, it stands as one of the taverns par excellence in the Barrio de Santa Cruz. Its vintage air precedes it; its orange wine and gastronomic specialties will make you come back (do not expect sophisticated creations).
📍 c/ Santa María de Gracia, 13
3. Bodega ‘Las Columnas
Another of the lively bars in the heart of Seville is the Bodega Santa Cruz ‘Las Columnas’. A beer temple with a picturesque appearance in which locals and travelers from all over the world converge, it continues to gorge its diners with refreshing beers and traditional dishes.
📍 c/ Rodrigo Caro, 1
4. Bodeguita Romero
Bodeguita Romero is halfway between following the concept of bars or restaurants and yet we could say that it is among the best in Seville in both categories.
It does not require too many presentations, here you come to make a stop in the day and to get tapas and portions at very good prices, either in its interior or in its seductive terrace with high tables. We emphasize, to the season, its sirloin steak with whiskey or the montadito de pringá.
📍 c/ Harinas, 10
5. Casa Morales
Passing through the doors of Casa Morales means traveling to another place or another time, although the latter manages to stop immediately.
A warm tavern that stands out for its huge variety of wines, hot and cold tapas, especially cold meats and salted meats, which will delight anyone and an undeniably Sevillian atmosphere.
📍 c/ García de Vinuesa, 11
6. Manolo Cateca
This secluded bar in Seville manages to bring together inside and on the terrace a good number of pilgrims, eager for beers, vermouth or wines with suggestive portions at popular prices.
📍 c/ Santa María de Gracia, 13
7. Kiosko La Melva
Another stronghold of Seville is this kiosk, which offers a whole catalog of local products that combine seamlessly with their beers on ice. Its specialty, as the name suggests, are the melva montaditos, but also other preserves, such as mackerel, anchovies or larded meat and its formidable chicharrones (pork rinds).
📍 c/ Cardenal Ilundain, 6
8. El Tremendo
Anyone who wants to cross from María Auxiliadora to the center of Seville will pass safely through Almirante Apodaca and Imagen street. Only the outsiders will be surprised by the crowds that awaken such a small place as this one, barely 300 meters from the Setas.
It is here that one of the great temples of the city resists: El Tremendo, capable of embodying many of the clichés of Seville with all the good work possible. A must visit that promises first class dishes and cold beer.
📍 c/ San Felipe, 13 | c/ Previsión, 10
9. Bar Jota
No fuss, no detours, no expectations are necessary to spend an evening at Jota. It has been standing since 1936 and looks almost the same as it did when it was founded. Except perhaps for the photos of the celebrities who have been seen in this bar in Luis Montoto. As far as its offer is concerned: here beers are dispatched everywhere and the cod and mojama (a kind of tuna) stand out notably.

10. La Chicotá
Another of Seville’s bars that welcomes dozens of patrons every afternoon on its terrace is La Chicotá. It goes without saying that beer is one of its main attractions, which you can enjoy practically every day of the year. For the rest, a lot of iconography (its name says so) and high quality snails when in season.

11. Ruperto House
Casa Ruperto is one of the flagships of the Triana neighborhood whose main attraction is its pajaritos. Note for those unfamiliar with the term: fried quails. The recipe is still reserved, although the dressing cannot be other than a lively beer outside.
📍 Santa Cecilia Avenue, 2
12. Dos de Mayo Winery
Many things could be said about Bodega Dos de Mayo (yes, it also rides between the bar and restaurant label) although for that we simply suggest the obvious: drop by its catalog of dishes or its attractive terrace on the Gavidia. A tip: go early on weekends, it tends to fill up quickly.
