The first Spanish Bocatas® Championship, an inevitable synergy that finally emerged this summer, had the expected success and followers. Because of the credibility given by the large participation of locals and because the sandwich, which enjoys national popularity, had not yet been granted the benefit of having its own contest.
The concept is exciting in all its aspects, breads and fillings. Without detracting from the myriad of possibilities and regional heritages, the campero, the cuixot, the Almussafes or the mantecaíto deserve an ode.
Thus, it makes little sense that there are many contests in search of the best pizza or the best hamburger in the country if they do not do the same festivals devoted to the montadito, the ensaladilla or as the one that, fortunately, would be held this 2024 in the Mestura space, in the Gran Hotel España in Oviedo.
Although Seville was left out of the national podium, it was clear that the best sandwich in Andalusia can be tasted in the province. Among the 126 participating sandwiches , first place was awarded to the Tasqueta Cal Miguelin, in Barcelona. Second and third place went to two restaurants from Valencia, Cal Carrero and La Mesedora, respectively.
Fortunately, in the ranking by communities, a restaurant from Seville stands out as the place that prepares the best sandwich in Andalusia. It is La Bicicleta (Dos Hermanas) and its Otro mundo, which is also among the 15 best sandwiches in Spain.
How is Otro Mundo, the best sandwich in Andalusia?
To find out what the best sandwich in Andalusia tastes like, you have to travel less than 20 kilometers from Seville and drop by La Bicicleta. Dos Hermanas is home to this refined Italian-Argentine pizzeria whose menu features Otro mundo.
Brioche bread, bondiola, pickled onion and burrata foam with pesto sprinkled with a few drops of oil. You can try it for 15,90 € in its regular schedule from Wednesday to Monday.
