The vast Andalusian territory, full of large cities, natural monuments and a dreamy coastline, also contains a good number of small towns. In the province of Seville, even with fewer inhabitants than we imagine.
According to the Junta de Andalucía, 67.26% of Andalusian municipalities have less than 5,000 inhabitants.
Specifically, the smallest village in Andalusia has barely 60 inhabitants. And what about the province of Seville?
Of the regions that comprise this region, the Sierra Norte and El Aljarafe host the three villages of Seville with fewer inhabitants. Rural cradles in which to escape from the world and that, perhaps, are worth a visit.
El Madroño integrates other population centers such as El Álamo, Juan Antón, Juan Gallego and Villargordo and all of them add up to just 305 neighbors. By all means, to drop by its surroundings will surprise the visitor. And is that in the foothills of the Sierra de Aracena, many trails connect with an amazing mining landscape on the border with Huelva.
Although it doubles the number of residents (600, according to data from 2024), San Nicolas del Puerto remains one of the villages with fewer inhabitants in the province of Seville. The heart of Sierra Morena engulfs this treasure dotted with natural pools, waterfalls and trails that lead to and through Cerro del Hierro.
Looking inland we find other secluded and sparsely populated areas, as is the case of Castilleja del Campo (612 inhabitants), in the region of Aljarafe.
