The culinary calendar highlights highly anticipated openings, awards given to the best restaurants, and the culinary events hosted by a city. Joining this list is a new edition—the fourth, in fact— of the Seville Montaditos and Ensaladilla Festival .
The abundance and uniqueness of Seville’s tapas are no secret: here, whiskey-marinated sirloin is served on a sandwich, and the noble art of making croquettes is elevated to excellence. Thus, this food festival, the Festival de los Montaditos, is a sort of ode to these mini sandwiches, which in 2026 will be held from October 9 to 12 under the slogan “With 2 slices of bread and a bit of something.”
Seville will celebrate its delicious tapas on Paseo Colón next weekend, with 13 renowned bars and restaurants from the province coming together to pay tribute to the ensaladilla and its variations.
Admission costs €4 and includes one drink. Last year, more than 5,000 people made their way to this promenade along the Guadalquivir River to sample a wide variety of montaditos and ensaladilla recipes.
What montaditos and ensaladillas will you be able to try at the festival?
- La Cruz Tapas Bar: curry chicken ensaladilla topped with crunchy kikos.
- Bar Timonel: octopus ensaladilla.
- La Alicantina: with shrimp.
- Pando Centro: whiskey-marinated sirloin ensaladilla.
- Monte Tradición Restaurant: garlic-infused prawn salad.
Joining the ensaladillas will be gazpachos and salmorejos from García Millán, pork rinds from El Rey del Chicharrón, and a generous selection of montaditos. Namely:
- The brioche with Oloroso-glazed pork cheeks and Apolonio cheese from Bar Perita.
- Cádiz-style pork rind montadito with cream cheese and Jack Daniels onions from Castaño Vinos y Tapas.
- Or the well-known pork tenderloin with bacon, cheese, and aioli from Barrabar’s.
- The whiskey-marinated sirloin montadito from Casa Eme.
- El Patio de San Eloy is participating with its Macareno-style montadito.
- And Caleta II is following suit with its “Caleta-style” rib montadito.
In addition to eating and drinking, attendees will be able to actively participate in the contest by voting for their favorite bites via a QR code to help select the best ensaladilla and the best montadito of the festival, alongside the verdict of the professional jury.
