What are the ingredients that must be met for something to be classified as emblematic or not? Perhaps it is enough a long trajectory, a peculiar history, the quality of its food or the concurrence of its space. The City Council of Seville is clear and has once again awarded this distinction to 7 commercial, gastronomic and hotel establishments.
It is an award that has been granted, according to the mayor, to “recognize and protect those businesses that are part of the sentimental landscape and heritage of our city.
The recognition is awarded to those businesses that meet the requirements of the municipal ordinance designed to promote the economic activity of stores, restaurants, bars and hotels with deep-rooted history and uniqueness and thus contribute to their protection and survival.

What are the requirements that an emblematic local must have?
From the government team of José Luis Sanz, says Pimentel, “we are committed to a strong commercial fabric not only as an economic engine and generator of employment but also as a real backbone of the life of many neighborhoods”.
According to the ordinance, these spaces must:
- A minimum age of 40 years.
- Develop a unique activity that includes the specialization of knowledge that are or have been relevant in the culture and tradition of Seville in both material, economic and social aspects.
- To house in its facilities elements with protected or outstanding historical or patrimonial value.
- Furniture, signs, displays, exhibitors, tablecloths, etc., that contain the identity and imaginary of the premises.
