
At the end of January the Seville Half Marathon attracted 16,000 athletes, the 40th edition of the Zurich Marathon will attract 14,000 runners to the capital of Seville on Sunday, February 23.
An ambitious race that breaks registration records and will run through a large part of the city from the Paseo de las Delicias. Specifically, 3,282 Andalusian participants and 250 international elite runners will participate.
It will be, by all accounts, the most promising edition in history, which can be seen live on Canal Sur, Teledeporte, Dazn, Eurosport and ETB.
Timetable and route of the Zurich Seville Marathon
The race will start at 8:30 am from Paseo de las Delicias in order of registration date. In any case, elite and world subelite athletes will start first.
The route includes the Glorieta de los Marineros, Paseo de Cristóbal Colón, Arjona, Torneo until reaching Barqueta. Once in La Cartuja the race will lead to José de Gálvez, Juan Bautista Muñoz, Américo Vespucio and Camino de los Descubrimientos.
It will follow Francisco de Montesinos and Inca Garcilaso to Torre Sevilla and Ronda de Triana Avenue.
From there it will run along San Martín de Porres, López de Gomara, Blas Infante, the Carlos Cano traffic circle and the streets Alfredo Kraus, Virgen de la Oliva, Santa Fé and Virgen de Luján. Once you reach the traffic circle of the cigarreras, the route continues through the Puente de los Remedios and Colon again until, in this case, the Ronda Urbana Norte and Manuel del Valle.
When reaching Carmona road, the runners will continue along Francisco de Ariño, Samaniego and Esperanza de la Trinidad until Urquiza, Pablo Iglesias, Juan Antonio Cavestany and Luis Montoto.
They will take Kansas City, Éfeso Street, Ada, Avenida Padre José María Javierre, Avenida de Andalucía and the Cruz del Campo to Gran Plaza. Other major roads are part of this itinerary: Avenida de la Ciudad Jardín, Alcalde Juan Fernández, Bueno Monreal and Manuel Siurot to Avenida de la Palmera and Borbolla.
At this point, take Avenida de Don Pelayo and Isabel la Católica to Plaza España and from there return along Avenida de Portugal and Borbolla, Luis Montoto and María Auxiliadora until reaching the Parliament of Andalusia and Resolana.
Section of the marathon through the center of Seville
The end of this ambitious 42-kilometer race will follow Calatrava and Alameda de Hércules, Trajano, Plaza del Duque, Campana, O’Donell, Velázquez and Tetuán.
The runners will line the last stretch in the center, from Plaza Nueva to Puerta Jerez along Avenida de la Constitución. Then they will take San Fernando street up to Avenida del Cid to finally end up in Avenida de María Luisa, the Glorieta de los Marineros and, again, Paseo de las Delicias.
