The Royal Artillery Factory has witnessed the presentation of the Seville Opera Festival, the new and ambitious opera project that aims to establish itself as a reference in odd years in the city.
The biennial event will bring together great operas and recitals in seven different venues from September 25 to October 12, 2025. Namely: the Real Fábrica de Artillería, the Real Alcázar, the Espacio Turina, the Teatro de la Maestranza and the Casas Palacios (Dueñas, Casa de Salinas and Hospital de la Caridad).
In this sense, the mayor pointed out that “Seville had a historical debt with the opera, with its legacy and with the fundamental role that our city has played in the development of this art. Today, with the birth of the Seville Opera Festival, we begin to settle that debt. This initiative is born with the vocation to stay, to consolidate itself as a cultural reference of first level and to reinforce the emotional and artistic link between Seville and the lyric”, said Sanz.
In this act, the poster of the exhibition has also been presented , where contemporary art and the lyrical universe converge in the hands of Ana Barriga. A colorful and vibrant piece that evokes the opera experience through a fresh visual language.
The purpose of the festival, circumscribed in the project of the consistory Seville, City of Opera, is “to become an international reference in odd years, placing Seville on the European operatic map. Not only for the quality of its programming and the uniqueness of its spaces, but also for its ability to dialogue with new audiences and connect tradition with the avant-garde,” concluded Sanz.
