The umpteenth escape to the Middle Ages takes place next weekend in Morón de la Frontera. These craft markets that bring together circus shows, theater and gastronomy breathe life into the villages of the province of Seville, animated by these events. A pretext for a getaway, in this case, to Morón de la Frontera: medieval fair and one of the best restaurants in the province just 1 hour from Seville.
The market will take place in the central San Miguel street, full of stalls and where the various theatrical performances will take place.
Also, and in parallel, will be held the commemoration of the Gallo de Morón, a tradition of this town whose history dates back to the sixteenth century. It used to be said that Morón was once inhabited by two towns with their own mayor. It would be the judge Juan Esquivel who would travel here to mediate. Those who had been present and had seen the judge’s harshness said that “wherever Esquivel was, no rooster would crow more than he did”. From then on, El Gallo would be his epithet.
There is a saying that accompanies the neighbors of the town at the present time, “you are going to be like the Rooster of Morón, without feathers and crowing”. This ending alludes to the beating to which the Esquivel was subjected, who had to leave the town in light of this fact.
Thus, among legends, revelry and the typical appearance of medieval fairs, Morón will become the ideal excursion for next week.
