The Railway Infrastructure Administrator (Adif) suspends the train service between Seville and Madrid “until further notice” because of a failure in the catenary. While it happened on Monday afternoon in the catenary between Yeles and La Sagra the difficulties to rescue the almost thirty affected trains is delaying the connection to be restored.
Thus, there will be no travel between Madrid Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes and Sevilla Santa Justa, according to the administrator “until further notice”.
In the social network X, they indicated that “the difficulty of the rescue of two trains affected by the incident and the prolongation in the works to repair the catenary prevent the trains of the south corridor with origin/destination Madrid and/or Seville to run until further notice. We regret the inconvenience”.
Likewise, long distance connections between the capital and Malaga, Granada, Cadiz and Huelva as well as medium distance trains with origin and/or destination Puertollano, Ciudad Real and Toledo are also affected.
The loss of voltage in the catenary caused hundreds of passengers to be trapped halfway along the route.
