The palace – home to many other cultural events, such as dramatized visits or musical evenings – will host from September the great temporary exhibition “Sorolla in the Alcazar”. This has been announced by the mayor of Seville, José Luisa Sanz, specifying that the exhibition will run from September 15 to November 30, 2025.
The exhibition will have as a common thread the intimate link of the Valencian painter with the Real Alcázar, a place of inspiration for several of his works.
This cultural initiative is the result of a collaboration agreement between the Board of Trustees of the Real Alcázar, the Sorolla Museum Foundation and the Unicaja Banking Foundation. The signing of the same will take place in late June.
Sanz stressed that “this exhibition is another example of our commitment to the cultural and tourist excellence of our city”.
Discovering the Alcázar through the eyes of Sorolla
This historical-artistic link will be the soul of this exhibition that both revisits its historical legacy and invites us to rediscover the monument through the eyes of the Valencian painter.
“Sorolla found in the Real Alcázar one of his great muses. He painted in its gardens, captured its light and atmosphere as few have done. Today, more than a century later, his work returns to this unique place to dialogue with the past and project into the future,” added Mayor Sanz.
A cultural activity that adds to others related to the second half of the year, a time of festivals, new stage productions or the expected Opera Biennial.
