Califato IPA, the limited edition beer born from the alliance between the music collective and Rio Azul is back this winter. On the occasion of the relaunch of this beer, which in June sold out in just 1 day, they have organized a Christmas market with music and merchandising of Califato ¾ at the brewery on December 13 from 12:00 noon.
The number 6 of Lana Street, in the Hytasa polygon, will be filled with t-shirts, vinyls, sweatshirts, skateboards, silk scarves and other limited edition pieces will be available while Califato ¾ DJs and selectors sound. A day that unites beer, music and local culture.
The occasion is ideal to taste and toast with this beer with a strong Andalusian character and find gifts for the holidays.
What Califato IPA is like
Califato IPA is a 6.2% vol. West Coast IPA, brewed by Sevillian brewmaster Eloy del Río, founder of Río Azul.
Inspired by the straightforward and uncontrived character of Califato ¾, the beer returns with the same unmistakable aromatic profile: grapefruit from Cadiz, pine from Doñana, bitter orange peel from Seville and green mango from Malaga.

On the palate, it maintains its dry entry, firm bitterness and lingering herbal aftertaste, with a medium-light body and clean finish.
“We knew it was coming. This beer represents us: it’s clear, has nerve and is unlike any other,” says Eloy del Rio, Rio Azul’s brewmaster.
“On a technical level, we come back with a dry and precise West Coast IPA, with a well-measured hop load so that the bitterness doesn’t overshadow, but rather accompanies. We wanted the beer to have the same balance as a good rhythmic base: punchy, without stealing the limelight.”
A beer with nerve for Christmas gifts
For this second run, the number of cans available has been increased, which can be purchased exclusively on December 13 at the brewery and later through the Río Azul and Califato ¾ websites, while stocks last.
“For us this is not just a beer, it’s a bottled audio track,” says Loren, member of Califato ¾. “It has attack, body and finish. What it sounds like in your mouth after the drink is like a you don’t want it to end.”
The label design continues to be the work of the TOT studio, directed by Ausiàs Pérez, also author of the visual identity of Río Azul and the cover of Califato ¾’s latest album. The photography is by Adrián del Campo (@offdelcampo).
