With just a few days to go before it begins, the Seville Fair is a reality filled with rebujito and lanterns. The city is celebrating one of its biggest events against the backdrop of rising prices, a trend that has been ongoing since 2022. Prices at the Real during the Fair have gone up, from the cost of lighting, setup, and musical groups to membership fees and food and drink.
In short, the 2026 April Fair is expected to be the most expensive in Seville’s history.
Prices for the fish dinner at the Fair
Seville is decked out in lanterns for six days, and the Real becomes the epicenter of a city made for celebration. However, we will have to contend with the consequences of rising prices for basic foodstuffs such as flour, milk, and oil. So, how much will it cost to have a serving of friedfish at this April Fair?
In economic terms, the kickoff event—the traditional fish dinner—will feature dishes of all kinds that are at least €4 more expensive than in 2022. Thus, a serving of acorn-fed ham will be hard to find for less than €22. In fact, it could easily reach €25 or more.
The same is true for other typical dishes at the casetas. Specifically: a serving of white shrimp or clams could cost as much as 26 euros, though not at every caseta.
This year, the price of croquettes continues to rise, having already reached 11 euros, as does fried fish, which will cost between 11 and 14.50 euros, depending on the booth.
Meanwhile, a potato omelet will cost nearly €8.50, and the montaditos will now exceed €4 and €4.50, compared to the €3 or €3.50 they traditionally cost.
Alcohol, fish, and even glassware have also seen price increases, and this will be reflected, in turn, in the bill diners will pay.
How much might a drink cost?
The same story applies to alcohol: prices have been raised to account for the increases and maintain a certain profit margin. Beer now costs over 2 euros, compared to the 1.50 euros it started at in 2022 and the 1.70 euros from last year.
In most of the casetas, the price of a pitcher of rebujito—which could be purchased for 8 euros before the pandemic—will exceed the 10 euros seen in 2022. In fact, the price of a pitcher of rebujito at this 2026 April Fair ranges from 12 to 17 euros.
Although the €12 price tag was already common at many of the booths in previous years, the current highs are undoubtedly historic.
Those who prefer manzanilla can find it for around 9 euros for a 375 ml half-bottle.
As for drinks, the price increase is also notable. While the average was 5 euros before the pandemic and prices fluctuated between 6 and 7 euros in 2023, we’ll have to pay around 7 euros or more in 2026, just as we did last year. Likewise, a premium mixed drink could reach or exceed 10 euros.
