1363, Iberian Peninsula. King Pedro I of Castile wants to lift the spirits of the entire Kingdom following the war against Enrique de Trastámara, and he does so with something his subjects adore: a tournament. This is the starting point for The Four Kingdoms: The Great Medieval Tournament, which will take place over two days, May 30 and 31, at the Gran Hipódromo de Andalucía (in Dos Hermanas). Traveling to 14th-century Seville
The Four Kingdoms: The Great Medieval Tournament will combine spectacle with historical reenactment and touches of humor to transport us to a very specific period in the history of the Iberian Peninsula (before Spain existed as such). The Kingdom has just endured a war, and its people are recovering from its aftermath.
Faced with this situation, Pedro I “The Cruel” (or “The Just”), King of Castile, decides to organize a tournament to lift the spirits of the people and, above all, as a display of military strength. Thus, he will invite the neighboring kingdoms of Castile, Aragon, Navarre, and Granada.
The Four Kingdoms: The Great Medieval Tournament will transform the Racetrack into the arena for this tournament, a place where the bravest warriors from each kingdom will face off in various trials. As spectators, we’ll be able to experience this spectacle up close, just as ordinary citizens did in the 14th century.
These events will include mounted challenges, hand-to-hand combat, and jousting, culminating in the final battle where the top-ranked kingdoms will face off horseback with lances.
In addition, before the show, we can enjoy a medieval encampment at the same venue that will recreate various arts and crafts of the era, food stalls, and shops selling medieval goods. The idea is for The Four Kingdoms: The Great Medieval Tournament to be an event enjoyed by all ages.
