The success of this format is unstoppable. San Jacinto Parish: the live setting for LUMINISCENCE Seville
Beyond a spectacular technical display, LUMINISCENCE is a grand tribute to the architectural heritage that houses it. On this occasion, the experience honors the Parish Church of San Jacinto, a Baroque church located in the heart of the Triana neighborhood.
At this venue, we’ll be able to experience an event that combinesvideo mapping technology (projected onto the ceilings and walls) with classical music in a digital format. During the Thursday through Saturday sessions, the music will be accompanied by a local choir performing great works of sacred music.
The show’s title is *La Odisea Celestial*(The Celestial Odyssey ), with a runtime of about 50 minutes without intermissions. As this is an experience featuring high-intensity visual effects, music, and sounds, it is not recommended for children under 2 years of age, although they may enter for free if carried in the arms of a responsible adult.
The experience is complemented by a voice-over that fills the space of San Jacinto to tell us its story, because if there’s one thing that defines the Parish of San Jacinto, it’s that it has witnessed major historical events in the city and has served countless purposes over the centuries.
This church, which dates back to 1679 (but was rebuilt practically from scratch after floods in 1730), houses a superb altarpiece from the Convent of La Victoria, a magnificent example of Andalusian Baroque.
It was a Dominican convent, a barracks, and a warehouse during the Napoleonic invasion; a medical facility during epidemics; the headquarters of historic brotherhoods; and, since 1966, it has been a parish church. Additionally, in one corner of the church stands a marble cross commemorating a very dark chapter in Seville’s history: the plague epidemic of 1649.
All these elements make the San Jacinto Parish the perfect setting for an event like LUMINISCENCE, an immersive experience that combines cutting-edge technology with the city’s history and an irresistible musical repertoire.
