Holy Week transforms Seville, and with the holidays on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, planning your grocery shopping becomes crucial. While most stores are closed, some key supermarkets remain open with special hours.
We’ve put together a quick guide so you don’t run out of supplies during the city’s big events.
Carrefour: the most flexible option
The French chain is focusing on its Express formats in the city center and outlying neighborhoods, maintaining extended hours:
- General opening hours (9:00 AM to 10:00 PM) at its stores on Menéndez y Pelayo, Sierpes, Feria, and Plaza de la Alfalfa.
- At the Recaredo and Cardenal Cervantes locations, they’re offering extended hours until 11:00 PM.
- On the other hand, the Carrefour Express on José Laguillo will be closed on Friday.
DIA Supermarkets: Holy Thursday Only
Most of its locations, such as the one on Marqués de Pickman, will operate normally on Thursday (9:00 AM to 9:30 PM), but will be closed on Good Friday.
- Exception: Some strategic stores, such as the one on Pagés del Corro, will be open on Friday.
Lidl: Morning hours
If you need to shop at Lidl, you’ll have to get up early. The German chain will be open on Holy Thursday only from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. On Good Friday, all its stores will be closed.
El Corte Inglés and Hipercor
For its part, Hipercor will follow a similar schedule on Thursday, but will be completely closed on Good Friday.
Ultimately, the El Corte Inglés supermarket will be open on both April 2 and 3 with reduced hours from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
