Spring with pleasant temperatures, featuring a sunny Holy Week and a fair that even ended on a slightly wet note. The thermometer is soaring in Seville. After a relatively mild start to May, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has already issued a warning: a gradual rise in temperatures is on the way, bringing us close to 40 °C before the week is out.
Are we facing the first major heat wave of the year? Although technically the Aemet requires certain criteria regarding duration and intensity to officially label it as such, what is certain is that the weather will feel distinctly summery.
First trips to the beach, escaping to inland towns, and, definitely, breaking out cooler clothes.

The week began with a transitional Monday (28 °C), though the respite is about to end.
The most drastic change will be felt starting Wednesday, May 20, when a mass of warm air sweeps across the peninsula.
On Thursday, the ultraviolet (UV) index will reach a level 9, and on Friday and Saturday, the lows will not drop below 20 °C.
