Seville’s Teatro Central has announced its new season, running from October through May, featuring a total of 15 productions spanning theater, dance, and contemporary performance. The venue, located on Isla de la Cartuja, will combine premieres by national companies with performances by international artists visiting the Andalusian capital.
International and National Presence at La Cartuja
The international program will open on November 13 and 14 with the piece *The Dog Days Are Over 2.0*, by Belgian choreographer Jan Martens. Subsequently, on January 15 and 16, *Hatched Ensemble*, by South African choreographer Mamela Nyamza—recent winner of the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale—will make its debut on the Seville stage.
The international section will also include *HAS BEEN*, a joint creation by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Martin Zimmermann scheduled for February, and will conclude in late May with *Immaqaa, ici, peut-être* by French artist Mathurin Bolze.
On the national front, the lineup will kick off on November 20 with *Personas, lugares y cosas*, a joint production by Mogambo and the Teatro Español. The program features well-known names from the Spanish dance scene, such as Andrés Lima and Teatro del Barrio with the piece *LIBRES!!!*, and the Catalan company Mal Pelo with *WE. Nosotros y los tiempos*.
As the new year begins, the venue will welcome groups such as LaJoven with *Un monstruo viene a verme*, Cabosanroque with their operatic production, and El Conde de Torrefiel with the piece *LEXICON*.
Cultural Outreach and Education Initiatives
Alongside the stage performances, the theater is launching various projects designed to engage new audiences.
The Antropoloops Laboratory is holding its fourth edition to bring contemporary sound creation to students at IES Almensilla and to the town’s municipal library.
In addition, the “Prologue” program will premiere under the direction of choreographer Luz Arcas to spark conversations about the scheduled works, while the “Ways of Making” initiative will give audiences a glimpse into the artists’ creative processes through labs and workshops.
Beyond the performing arts, the venue will continue to serve as the home of the Filmoteca de Andalucía and the Centro Andaluz de las Letras.
Additionally, in October, the venue will host the science outreach event Naukas Sevilla FUSIÓN 2026. Season passes and individual tickets for the various shows will be available starting in September through the Teatro Central’s official website.
