To trace the clues that transformed Seville’s culinary scene—and have paved the way for the proliferation of more exciting dining spots—one must inevitably head to Calle San Luis. At number 50 on this picturesque street, and across from the beautiful church of San Luis de los Franceses, ConTenedor is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
As if two decades were nothing, the Rodríguez brothers continue to nourish and build the neighborhood ( and, indeed, its memory) in this lively part of Seville.
When ConTenedor opened its doors in May 2006, talking about organic produce, locally sourced cuisine, and unhurried dining sounded like a pipe dream. Today, the project led by Ignacio Rodríguez, Javi Rodríguez, and Ricardo has not only proven the validity of its philosophy but is celebrating it in style by returning to its roots.

To commemorate these two decades of culinary resilience and love for the ingredients, ConTenedor is reviving its most iconic dishes in an anniversary menu for €39. They also offer the option to pair the meal with a selection of Andalusian wines for just €6 more.
A journey through ConTenedor’s iconic dishes
The menu is a journey back through the restaurant’s history. Four courses that revisit some of its most popular dishes—ones that will undoubtedly ring a bell for anyone who has dined here over the years.
The meal begins with their creamy pâté with jam, which, if paired, would be accompanied by an Amontillado sherry. This is followed by their refreshing citrus salmon tartare with organic mangoes and avocados on a cashew ajoblanco, paired with the Soplagaitas from Colonias de Galeón.
The savory course could only culminate with the legendary crispy duck and mushroom rice. Addictive and unmistakable, it combines the richness of the duck, the depth of the demi-glace, and the vanilla-like nuances of the mustard with rice that’s simultaneously crispy. It’s paired with MalaOstia, an artisanal red wine from Jaén.

The crowning touch is its cheesecake with roasted apple and Freskura pistachio ice cream. Ignacio Rodríguez, at the helm of the kitchen, recalls that
Art, neighborhood, and a new image
ConTenedor has always been an ecosystem where cuisine coexists with art—the pieces on display can be purchased, change, and new ones arrive— with live music on Tuesdays and endless after-dinner conversations.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the restaurant isn’t just focusing on the menu. They’re also unveiling a revamped corporate image and launching their own line of merchandise (T-shirts and tote bags available in-store) for those of us who hold this restaurant close to our hearts.
Two decades in San Luis are proof that Seville has learned to value seasonal produce, respect for ingredients, and embrace the concept of taking the time needed to enjoy a meal around the table.
ConTenedor’s is a low-key story that continues to seek a connection with diners, offering sincere, honest food.
For Javi Rodríguez, that relationship with customers has sustained a good part of the project.
Ricardo notes that
