Seville’s cultural calendar for the fall has just added one of its most eagerly anticipated events. The Seville Provincial Council is organizing the Festival del Patio + Metrópolis for the third time—a musical initiative that takes place toward the end of September.
Once its traditional summer film series concludes, it will launch this event, which will bring togetherfour of Spain’s greatest talents.
From September 11 to October 3, a total of nine top-tier concerts will be held at the Patio de la Diputación and in five municipalities in Seville. This project is firmly establishing itself as one of the major driving forces behind live music in the province.
With a firm commitment to diversity of styles and affordable ticket prices, the festival seeks to make culture accessible to all.
The names headlining this year’s lineup speak for themselves: Abraham Mateo, Café Quijano, Pablo López, Luz Casal, Tanxugueiras, Morgan, Los Planetas, Ginebras, and La Plazuela.
Concerts at the Patio de la Diputación: pop, indie, and roots music
The concert series in Seville will take place at the iconic Patio de la Diputación and will kick off in mid-September with four consecutive nights that promise to be unforgettable:
- September 16: The Galician group Tanxugueiras will kick off the festival at the Provincial Council’s Patio with their powerful fusion of traditional music and urban rhythms.
- September 17: Morgan.
- September 18: Los Planetas.
- September 19: Ginebras.
The festival is expanding throughout the province
With the goal of decentralizing the capital’s cultural offerings and balancing the spotlight with the municipalities, the Festival del Patio + Metrópolis will once again tour the province of Seville:
- September 11: The festival kicks off in La Rinconada with a live performance by pop sensation Abraham Mateo.
- September 12: The next day, Utrera will come alive with the unmistakable rhythm and elegance of Café Quijano.
- September 25: The Riberas del Guadaíra Auditorium in Alcalá de Guadaíra will host Pablo López’s delicate piano performance.
- September 26: The grand dame of Spanish pop-rock, Luz Casal, will take the stage at the Auditorio Los del Río in Dos Hermanas.
- October 3: The festival’s grand finale will take place at the Mairena del Aljarafe Equestrian Center, featuring La Plazuela and their successful fusion of flamenco, funk, and electronic music.
A tribute to local art and affordable prices
The official presentation of the festival, hosted by actress Cristina Almazán, began with a reading of Luis Cernuda’s moving poem “El Patio.”
Illustrator Javier Infantes, creator of this year’s poster, took the opportunity to dedicate his work to the renowned Sevillian artist and poster designer Manolo Cuervo, who recently passed away.
The Seville Provincial Council has highlighted this event’s commitment to serving as a driving force for public culture, complementing major events in the capital such as the Icónica Santalucía Sevilla Fest, while offering a more accessible alternative to the towns of Seville.
