Summer movie screenings have become a staple of summer nights in many Spanish towns. The magic of cinema moves from theater seats and living room armchairs to conquer outdoor spaces, beach chairs, giant screens, and snacks like sunflower seeds and other treats to round out the evening. This is the case at the Patio de la Diputación in Seville, where every summer hundreds of moviegoers gather to enjoy the “Asómate al Patio” initiative.
Starting June 25, at least twenty films of all kinds will be screened in this iconic courtyard. These include last year’s major releases, arthouse films, seasonal hits, and award-winning films from international festivals.
A program that has been refreshing its lineup for 29 years at what was once the Puerta de la Carne barracks.
Screenings begin at 10:15 p.m., though doors will open at 9:15 p.m.
In August and September, however, screenings may begin at 10:00 p.m., as in previous years. As for the courtyard’s capacity, it is equipped to accommodate up to 900 seats, arranged in rows and also at tables in the refreshment area.
Tickets are no longer sold at their usual price; this year, they will cost €5 per screening and can be purchased through the “Asómate al Patio” website or at their office.
“Asómate al Patio” Summer Film Program
This film series will run throughout June and July (the August schedule has not yet been announced) and kicks off on June 25 with *Los Tigres*. Other Goya Award winners and nominees, such as *Romería*, *La Cena*, and *Los Domingos*, will also be screened.
But the films from the Spanish Film Festival won’t be the only ones screening in the Provincial Council’s courtyards. Other interesting feature films will also be shown, such as *Valor sentimental*, the Norwegian film that won Best Foreign Language Film at the last Academy Awards; Sorrentino’s *La Grazia *; *La voz de Hind *; and *Familia de alquiler*.
The American film industry will also be represented, with notable films such as *One Battle After Another * and *Project Salvation*. In any case, readers will find the complete schedule for *Asómate al Patio* below:
