Holy Monday is a day of great contrasts during Seville’s Holy Week. From the very long processions coming from outlying neighborhoods like San Pablo or the Polígono de San Gonzalo, to the overwhelming silence of Santa Marta or the romantic elegance of the Museo.
New Features and Changes in 2026
As for the changes in 2026, on the one hand, the departure from San Pablo will be moved up by 15 minutes (it will now depart at 11:15 a.m.) and its route will be slightly modified starting from Alfalfa.
On the other hand, La Redención will bring its arrival forward by 45 minutes, which this year will take place around 11:15 p.m.
Meanwhile, San Gonzalo is modifying its return route after the Cathedral, passing through the area around Plaza del Triunfo and Correos (Joaquín Romero Murube and Tomás de Ibarra) to streamline the day’s flow.

Essential processions and moments of Seville’s Holy Monday
Las Penas de San Vicente or San Pablo at sunset on the Cuesta del Rosario, the Kiss of Judas on Santiago Street, Santa Genoveva through María Luisa Park, or San Gonzalo parading through Triana.
These are not the only iconic moments of Holy Monday in Seville. They are joined by such beautiful scenes as the Vera Cruz procession along Calle Baños or Las Aguas at the Arco del Postigo.
Perhaps the highlight of the day is El Cristo de la Expiración, a masterpiece of the Baroque, entering the Museum Square crowded with orange trees.
Tips for Holy Monday
- Avoid trying to cross from the Alfalfa area to the Duque area between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., as several long-distance brotherhoods will be passing through at the same time.
- Don’t miss Las Cigarreras after San Gonzalo or the Rosario de Cádiz after Las Aguas; they are two of the best bugle and drum bands in Andalusia.
- El Postigo is a critical point of the day. If you want to see a brotherhood there (such as Las Aguas or San Gonzalo), arrive well in advance.
