The bonuses and discounts on public transport in Spain, which still benefit thousands of users in Andalusia, will cease to apply in 2025. A measure that will affect Renfe’s Cercanías and Media Distancia services as well as suburban transport in Andalusia (and therefore, discounts on the Seville metro).
Although the Government is studying the application of new discounts for young people and frequent users or free of charge for vulnerable groups.
Both discounts started to be applied in 2022 due to the energy crisis and inflation and were replicated in the following years. Until now.
Thus, and pending further details, the discounts of 60% on metro journeys in Andalusia, which were provided by the Central Government and the Junta de Andalucía in 30%, respectively, would disappear.
With regard to Renfe’s Cercanías, it would return to standard fares and the free Media Distancia passes would disappear.
