Less than 20 kilometers separate Seville from Alcalá de Guadaíra, a destination now worth discovering at sunset, as the castle will once again be open for nighttime visits. A unique opportunity to climb its Almohad fortress at sunset.
Scanning the horizon from the heights of this castle will be possible by moonlight starting February 20. This was announced by the local City Council, which launched this program of short visits in light of the work being done on the castle and which now lasts from 20 to 50 minutes starting April 17.
The conservation, safety, enhancement, and ornamental lighting projects will allow visitors to experience this gem like never before. The latest of these, the lighting project carried out by the Urban Habitat Department, makes it possible to open this heritage site to the public and tourists at night.
Details of the experience
This project aims to highlight the architectural beauty of the defensive complex and boost local tourism. The tours have been designed to be an immersive experience that respects the environment.
In fact, 132,000 euros have been allocated for the installation of more than 170 LED light fixtures that highlight the castle walls and towers without damaging the heritage site.
For their part, the tours will be staggered every 15 minutes to ensure smooth flow. The delegate noted that “the people of Alcalá are the first who should enjoy this hallmark of identity in a unique and different atmosphere and rediscover their castle.”
