Lovers of antiques, collecting, and stories with soul have a must-attend, unmissable event in the province of Seville before the end of the month. Following the success of previous editions, where homes in the heart of the El Arenal neighborhood and other corners of the historic center were cleared out, the well-known firm Antico Interiores Sevilla returns with one of its unique and fascinating flea markets held in private homes.
This time, the venue moves to Umbrete and promises to be one of its most special openings to date.
On the last weekend of June—the 27th, 28th, 29th, and 30th—the Antico team will open the doors to a large property that hides a true ethnographic treasure within. It is a former olive warehouse that still preserves the original mill used to extract the oil.
A revival of objects spanning several generations
Macarena, the mastermind behind this project that has gone viral on social media, has admitted that it is a massive but incredibly exciting challenge. The home has been home to several generations of the same family, resulting in an accumulation of belongings, furniture, and mementos spanning decades of history.
Unfortunately, the fate of the property means that anything that isn’t sold will eventually be destroyed. That’s why the goal this weekend is to save and give a second life to every piece, from large, stately furniture to vintage everyday items and unique decorative objects.
How does this home market work?
Antico Sevilla’s concept is based on the motto “decorate to clear out.” It is not a typical antique shop, but rather an open house where visitors can tour the home’s actual rooms and view the objects on display in their own historical context.
The purchasing system is very simple and designed to streamline logistics:
- Small items: All pieces are price-tagged. If you fall in love with a smaller item (tableware, decor, kitchenware), you can pick it up and take it with you until you reach the checkout.
- Large-scale furniture. To purchase heavy or bulky items, simply remove the tag showing the price and product description and present it to the seller at the time of payment.
- Payment Methods and Shipping. All payment methods are accepted, and while the ideal is to pick up items during the open house days, the organizers will exceptionally set aside a specific day to facilitate the loading and transport of heavier items.
If you love discovering Seville’s hidden gems and want to snag a “very, very special” piece with its own history, this weekend’s destination is a no-brainer.
