October is just a few days away, and the heat shows no signs of letting up, with summer-like highs still exceeding 30 degrees. Every fall seems to be a long time coming, leaving us wondering when the season will finally arrive. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) is already forecasting changes in the weather map that, it seems, will mark a turning point in Seville’s temperatures.
For now, we know that for the final stretch of September, temperatures will continue to comfortably exceed 30 °C to 33 °C in the Guadalquivir Valley.
The forecast for this weekend
Looking ahead to this weekend, the AEMET and weather forecasts predict a gradual increase in cloud cover and some instability:
- Cloud cover will increase on Friday and Saturday. Although high temperatures will still hover around 31°C–32°C, the chance of rain will rise to 80% on both days due to the arrival of an Atlantic front.
- Sunday will remain humid and unsettled, with cloudy spells and a chance of drizzle.
When will the real temperature drop begin?
The definitive shift in the trend will arrive early next week. Models indicate a gradual drop starting on October 6, when temperatures will fall below 27 °C and the likelihood of Atlantic fronts will increase significantly. Meanwhile, lows are expected to be around 17 °C.
It will be from that date onward that fall will begin to take hold in Seville, bringing with it more widespread rainfall and the long-awaited relief from the heat.
