Barre studios, Pilates with reformers, CrossFitboxes, and running clubs are popping up all over cities, and they all have one thing in common: they’re trendy. Fortunately, they’re also ideal alternatives for making sports a priority without sacrificing originality or having fun with friends. Climbing gyms are just as trendy —amazing facilities where you can climb while socializing. And Seville is adding a new mecca for lovers of this sport: MOVE Climbing is making its debut in the capital and opening the largest indoor climbing center in all of Andalusia at Hytasa.
The impressive complex, built with an investment of nearly one million euros from Sevillian investors, has repurposed one of the warehouses of the historic Hilaturas y Tejidos Andaluces S.A. (Hytasa) factory in the Cerro del Águila neighborhood, transforming it into a first-class sports and cultural venue.
More than 1,500 m² of climbable space and nearly 14 meters high
The new facility features more than 1,500 square meters of climbable surface area and walls reaching nearly 14 meters in height, suitable for both beginners and experienced climbers.
The space features an area with more than 200boulders, over 50 rope routes, 27 belay stations, and walls up to 12.6 meters high that can be climbed.
A gym focused on improving athletic skills and a dining area that is by no means intended exclusively for seasoned climbers.
In fact, nearly 40% of the people who come to MOVE are beginners, and the center offers routes, self-belay systems, and specific activities designed to let you try climbing from scratch.
In addition, the project will pay tribute to the venue’s textile heritage through a permanent exhibition on the history of Hytasa.
“Opening Weekend”: tickets starting at €10 and grand opening specials
To celebrate its grand opening, MOVE Hytasa has organized a big Opening Weekend on September 12 and 13, with sessions divided into morning and afternoon slots that will combine climbing, live DJs, great food, and a festive atmosphere.
To mark the occasion, the center has launched various admission options and promotional passes:
- Session pass (morning or afternoon): for €10, includes full access to the climbing facilities during the chosen session.
- Lunch or dinner packages: For €15 or €20, you can add lunch or dinner, a drink, and an exclusive gift to your climbing session.
- Full-day pass: For €25, you can climb all day long, and it includes lunch, dinner, drinks, and a free gift.
In any case, 50% of the cost of any ticket purchased during Opening Weekend will be refunded to the user as credit to be used later toward a MOVE membership.
Plus, everyone who purchases a ticket for this opening weekend will automatically be entered into a drawing for an annual Founder Pass valued at €499.
Tickets for the grand opening are limited and can now be reserved through the official MOVE Climbing website.
The center is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Saturdays starting at 9:00 a.m., and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
