The 81st edition of the Vuelta a España began on August 22 in Monaco and will reach Seville this Wednesday, September 9, for its 17th stage. The race will conclude in Granada on September 13, breaking with the tradition of finishing in Madrid.
As for the Seville stage, the peloton will cross Seville until it reaches the finish line located in front of the Maestranza Bullring.
To carry out the technical and security operations, traffic in the city center and on several main roads in Seville will be disrupted from Tuesday night through tomorrow afternoon.
When will the traffic closures begin?
The special traffic plan implemented by the City Council will be rolled out in stages starting Tuesday night:
- On Tuesday, September 8, starting at 10:00 p.m., Paseo de Cristóbal Colón will be closed to traffic in both directions. Thus, the section between the Triana Bridge and the San Telmo Bridge will be closed to allow for the setup of the finish area.
- On Wednesday, September 9, starting at 7:00 a.m., road closures will be expanded in the area around Paseo de las Delicias, affecting streets such as Avenida de Chile, Palos de la Frontera, La Rábida, and Doña María de Padilla.
- And starting at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, there will be a total closure of all roads along the race route.
Peloton Route and Affected Streets

The cyclists will enter the city around 5:00 p.m. via the SE-20 through the San Jerónimo neighborhood. The main streets and avenues through which the multicolored procession will pass—and which will be closed to traffic—are:
- Medina y Galnares Street and San Jerónimo Avenue
- Glorieta Olímpica and Avenida Concejal Alberto Jiménez Becerril
Detours and Parking Restrictions
To channel traffic in the downtown area, an alternative route will be established: Calle Temprado will have its direction of travel reversed to allow traffic to flow from Calle Santander toward Dos de Mayo, Arfe, Adriano, and Santas Patronas, leading to Reyes Católicos.
Consequently, several public parking lots will have their use restricted or suspended. Specifically:
- Paseo Colón: no entry or exit from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Avenida de Roma: closed from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Mar de Plata and Virgen de Luján: access roads will be closed between 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
When will traffic resume?
The streets along the stage route will be opened progressively as the peloton advances.
It is estimated that by around 6:00 p.m., most of the route will be reopened to traffic. However, the finish area on Paseo de Colón will remain closed until approximately 9:30 p.m.
