One of the major milestones in Seville’s public transportation system is nearing completion; Tussam’s Tranvibús (TB1) will finally begin operating its full route starting this Monday, September 28. Construction on this line, which directly connects Torreblanca and Seville East with Plaza del Duque, was carried out in phases beginning in September 2025, gradually transforming the center of Seville up until today.
The line spans nearly 13 kilometers, running from the outskirts of Seville to its heart, reducing travel time to about 35 minutes.
Another major question concerns the frequency of service; in this case, it is set at 5 minutes during peak hours and 8 minutes during off-peak hours.
Stops and route of the TB1 line
The entire route spans 12.4 kilometers along a dedicated lane with traffic light priority, including the following main stops:
- Sevilla Este and Torreblanca: Avenida de la Aeronáutica, Avenida de las Ciencias (I and II), FIBES / Palacio de Congresos, Palacio de Congresos Commuter Station, and Las Góndolas.
- San Pablo and Santa Justa Corridor: Santa Clara, Montes Sierra, Los Arcos, San Pablo, Kansas City (I and II), and Santa Justa Station.
- The downtown section includes José Laguillo Street, Amador de los Ríos Street, Plaza Ponce de León, Imagen Street, and the terminal at Plaza del Duque.
Reorganization and changes to TUSSAM routes
The arrival of the Tranvibús in the historic center is reorganizing the urban bus network to avoid duplication and relieve congestion in the city center:
- Lines 11, 15, 16, and 20 are moving their terminals to Puerta de Osario, allowing for direct transfers to the Tranvibús for those wishing to continue on to Plaza del Duque.
- Lines 10, 12, 24, and 32 will continue to operate from their terminals at Plaza de Ponce de León.
- Line 13 is changing its terminus from Plaza del Duque to Plaza de la Campana.
- Line 14, however, has its new terminus at the Alameda de Hércules; it will no longer reach the Plaza del Duque.
- Finally, Line 27, the traditional connection to Seville East, will either have its route shortened or be integrated into the section serving the city center via Line TB1 itself, thereby optimizing passenger flow between Seville East and the city center.
