There’s something for everyone in Seville: hanging out at a bar with friends, spending an afternoon playing role-playing games, going to concerts, or—why not?— attending a PowerPoint Party. For the past few years, it’s been common to come across videos on social media showcasing gatherings like these. Instead of just chatting, participants present PowerPoints on specific topics for the sheer pleasure of staging a conversation.
Seville-based graphic designer Álvaro Góngora, who organizes these large-scale parties, didn’t want to let this trend pass him by .
Seville is hosting its next PowerPoint Party on Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 p.m. at the Nervión Plaza Cinemas.
The format debuted in Seville last Christmas at Lab Sevilla. Now it’s making the leap to the big screen, using the movie theater as its stage.
How PowerPoint Parties Work
The creative Álvaro Góngora has been organizing and hosting these gatherings since 2024. Each edition revolves around a common theme, and the speakers explore it with complete freedom through PowerPoint presentations that blend humor, creativity, criticism, and culture.
The only rule is to use the Comic Sans font. That way, any topic—no matter how absurd it may seem—becomes an excuse to share ideas and spark conversation.
This tool, once a staple of office automation, now serves as a medium for radically different purposes.
A live comedy stage , down-to-earth theories, absurd debates taken to the extreme, and a place to champion the art of giving presentations on just about anything.
The theme of this year’s event, “Networks and Raids, ” lends itself to all kinds of interpretations: from social media and personal relationships to police raids or any unexpected associations. Each speaker will interpret it in their own way.
Who’s taking the stage?
For this second edition in Seville, four content creators connected to the topic at hand will be participating. Namely:
- Actress and comedian Carmen Orellana.
- Adrián Pino, actor and musician with Elfos del Rocío.
- Natalia Góngora, social media specialist and communicator.
- El Freskito, who will bring his creative universe and sense of humor to the table.
Álvaro Góngora, the project’s founder, will host the session.
Tickets cost €10 and are now on sale on the official Power Point Party website. For any questions, you can email info@powerpointparty.es, call +34 639 870 082, or follow the project on Instagram (@powerpoint_party) and TikTok (@powerpointparty).
The format has already made its way through various cities, and with this event at Nervión Plaza, it’s making its debut in a new setting: the seats of a movie theater.
