
The Patio de la Montería, which gives access to the halls and gardens of the Real Alcázar of Seville, will be the stage for the exclusive presentation of the opera ‘Magellan, no rose without thorns’ in concert format.
The event is scheduled for March 28th at 21:00 hours. It will feature voices such as Mariola Cantarero (Beatriz), Damián del Castillo (Magallanes), Luciano Motto (Pigafetta), Israel Lorenzo (Elcano) and Fran García (Espinosa), among others.
They will be joined by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Málaga and the Coro de Ópera de Málaga, conducted by Francisco Javier Gutiérrez Juan.
This ambitious lyrical production (by 16 Escalones Producciones) by Marco Reghezza and Giovanni Scapecchi, with libretto by José María Núñez de la Fuente, revives the feat of the first circumnavigation of the world.

The delegate of the Treasury, Juan Bueno, said that “this is a unique representation […] whose tickets, free access, will be available from 12:00 noon on Monday March 24, on the website of the Real Alcázar”.
And is that the opera in question takes us to the Seville of the sixteenth century, which highlighted enclaves such as the Atarazanas, the Port, the Casa de la Contratación, the Cathedral or this spectacular palace that the Alcázar.
Music, lyric, interpretation and an iconic staging will serve as a structure to narrate this epic and link it to the city. Fernando de Magallanes lived in Seville between 1517 and 1519 and married Beatriz de Barbosa, daughter of the warden of the Alcázar, Diego de Barbosa.
