The Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary gives us a national holiday this coming Saturday, August 15. The occasion will feature the traditional procession of the Virgin and raise the question for those staying in Seville: which supermarkets and shopping centers will be open on this holiday.
Large retail stores and shopping centers offer an excellent option for leisure and shopping, as well as being an ideal way to escape the high summer temperatures thanks to their air conditioning.
Although, as a general rule, holidays usually mean that stores are closed, regional regulations regarding authorized holiday openings allow numerous supermarkets, shopping centers, and hypermarkets to open on August 15, both in the city of Seville and its metropolitan area.
Supermarkets and hypermarkets open on August 15
- Mercadona (Seville and province): All of the chain’s supermarkets in Seville and the surrounding province will be open during special morning hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Carrefour Macarena: located on Ronda Urbana Norte, s/n. It will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Carrefour San Pablo, located at 1 José Jesús García Díaz Street, will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Carrefour Camas Aljarafe on Poeta Muñoz San Román Street, s/n (Camas), open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Carrefour Montequinto (Dos Hermanas) will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Alcampo Aleste Plaza. Located at 3 Periodista José Antonio Garmendia Street (Seville East). The Alcampo hypermarket will open at 9:00 a.m., while the shopping mall will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Alcampo Tamarguillo. The hypermarket will be open starting at 9:00 a.m., and the rest of the shopping center will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Shopping centers open in Seville
- Lagoh Sevilla Shopping Center: (Av. de Palmas Altas, 1). It will be fully open throughout the holiday. Stores will operate during their regular hours from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., while the food court will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
- Torre Sevilla Shopping Center: (C/ Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada, 2, next to the Torre Sevilla skyscraper). The shopping area will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and the restaurants will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
- Los Arcos Shopping Center: (Av. de Andalucía, s/n). The shopping center will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Nervión Plaza Shopping Center: (C/ Luis de Morales, 2). Its stores will be open during special hours from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The entertainment and dining area will maintain its extended hours from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.
- El Corte Inglés Nervión: (C/ Luis Montoto, 122–128). It will be open to the public from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- El Corte Inglés Plaza del Duque: (Plaza del Duque de la Victoria, 8). Open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Large retail stores and IKEA in the province of Seville
- IKEA Castilleja will be open this holiday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- The stores at the Airesur Shopping Center will be open on August 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and restaurants from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Sevilla Fashion Outlet will have all its stores open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Metromar: (Av. de los Descubrimientos, s/n, Mairena del Aljarafe). The shopping area will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Vega del Rey Retail Park: (Glorieta Gaviño, 4, Camas). It will remain open this holiday Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- WAY Dos Hermanas: (Av. Ingeniero José Luis Prats, 1, Dos Hermanas). It will be open all day on the holiday.
- Sevilla Factory Dos Hermanas: (Av. 4 de Diciembre, Dos Hermanas). It will be open as usual during the holiday.
- Parque Guadaíra: (A-92 Highway, Exit 7, Alcalá de Guadaíra). Open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Los Alcores Shopping Center: (A-92 Highway, Km 8.8, Alcalá de Guadaíra). The shopping area is open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and the dining area remains open until 1:00 a.m.
