Where villages converge, richness is also born, often capable of being transferred to gastronomy. The Town Council of Palomares del Río has known how to take advantage of its historical and culinary goodness and celebrates the second Ruta de la Tapa Mozárabe (Mozarabic Tapas Route).
The simple reference to this gastronomy (historical review: the Mozarabs were those Christians of Visigoth origin who resided in Al-Andalus but who were adopting over time cultural uses of Arab origin) evokes ingredients and a unique way of combining the different elements. All of them, the mixture of textures, flavors and aromas, are indispensable in the tapas that will be served during the event.
Thus, this village of the Seville aljarafe revive that time to blow of flavor through these days. 10 days of Palomares recipes, from May 23 to June 1. Its purpose? To highlight the value of the catering businesses in the municipality, offer a whole experience and discover the best local tapas.
Nine establishments will participate in this event and must submit to the contest a tapa in whose composition are used, mainly or accessory, at least three ingredients linked to the Mozarabic cuisine, in addition to the list provided by the City Council.
In addition, prizes will be raffled among those who vote for the best popular tapa.
How to participate in the raffles
All tapas submitted to the contest will have a single price of 4 € and with drink 5 € (beer, tinto de verano or soft drink). And there will be four categories available.
In this edition will be awarded best popular tapa and best popular dessert, to be chosen by customers and best creative tapa and creative dessert, valued and selected by a jury of professional chefs.
As for the customers, they will get a “passport” to be stamped in the bars and restaurants they pass through. Depending on the number of stamps, their vote will have more or less value.
In other words, passports with 8 or 9 stamps will give one point to their favorite tapa; passports with 10 or 11 stamps, 2; and full passports (12 stamps) will give 3 points to their favorite tapa.
However, only those diners who reach a minimum of 8 stamps will be able to vote. Once the tapas have been tasted, the passport must be handed in to the establishment of their choice.
This year the prizes are again divided into three groups, 3 draws depending on the number of stamps.
The City Council announced which were the winning tapas (the first three in each category were awarded) as well as the draw for the gifts a week after the I Ruta de la Tapa Mozárabe.
