The gastronomic agenda distinguishes coveted openings, the awards given to the best restaurants or culinary events hosted by a city. The Association of Hoteliers of Seville and Province is jumping on the bandwagon of culinary events and, after the success of Caracolia, presents a new edition of the Festival de los Montaditos and the ensaladilla.
The abundance and uniqueness of tapas in Seville are no secret: here sirloin steaks are sandwiched with whiskey and the noble art of preparing croquettes is elevated to excellence. Thus, this gastronomic fair, the Festival de los Montaditos, is a sort of ode to these mini snacks, which this 2024 will be held from September 27 to 29 under the slogan ‘With 2 breads and a peak’.
Last year more than 5,000 people made the pilgrimage to this promenade along the Guadalquivir to get their hands on a wide variety of montaditos and ensaladilla recipes.
What is the schedule of the festival?
The president of the Sevillian Academy of Gastronomy, Julio Moreno, in the framework of the presentation of the event, has pointed out that “Seville is an international gastronomic reference precisely because it has been able to perfectly combine tradition and innovation”.
However, it will follow in the footsteps of his older brother and dispense in the Paseo Colón good amount of food. Dozens of exhibitors will offer their creations from Friday to Sunday. Specifically, they will do so from 12:30 to 16:30 hours and from 20:00 to 00:00 hours on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, on the other hand, it will remain open only at noon.
However, in addition to the montaditos, the ensaladilla will once again play a leading role during these gastronomic days. Two infallible that are, at least in our opinion, of the tapas that best define the personality of Seville.
A versatile city that knows how to preserve the tradition and that lends itself to incorporate the variety, avant-garde and uniqueness of the new times.
