It comes as no surprise that the month of May offers a sometimes overwhelming array of activities. But the fact that surprises like “La Jarana”—conceived by Netflix in Seville— are joining the usual events that take place as summer approaches is another story. For those who prefer to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, the province has some enticing options in store for this weekend. For example, the medieval market held in Pilas from May 8 to 10.
The Sevillian town is completely transformed to transport you straight back to the Middle Ages. Specifically, the Alcalde José Suárez Cuesta Municipal Park, the epicenter of this festival where crafts, cuisine, and entertainment come together.
This cultural event will be open continuously from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Live crafts and trades
As is customary for these events, the heart of the festival will be its market, which will feature designer jewelry, leather goods, ceramics, and even live pottery and engraving demonstrations.
In addition, there will be roaming entertainment featuring costumed jesters and jugglers, parades, and special workshops designed for children.
Of course, gastronomy will play a central role in this Aljarafe festival, which will feature artisanal empanadas, traditionally roasted meats, pastries, and craft beer.
